August 12, 2023 — In 2006, indie rock band The Front Bottoms was formed in New Jersey. Years later, they are performing two back to back shows in Los Angeles brimmed to the top with fans on their You Are Who You Hang Out With Tour. The band was formed by two childhood friends Brian Sella and Mathew Uychic; they played many fan favorites such as “Lonely Eyes”, ”Be Nice To Me”, and “Au Revoir” . As a casual listener, I can easily say there was not a moment of silence anywhere in the venue because everyone regardless of age was screaming the lyrics word for word.

There was an amazing collection of clips of animation and video on the screens behind the band to tie together the entire feeling of the show and it really transported you into the song they were playing. During one of their hit songs, “ Punching Bag”, they quite literally brought out a Century Bob Punching Bag. There was no way to deny being at the show was like hanging out with good friends on a Saturday night. Even with a venue as big as The Novo, there was an intimate and friendly feeling to the whole night that was unforgettable as a new listener.
