April 27, 2023 — Stepping into the venue, I immediately knew I was in for a treat. The crowd was wonderfully dressed, encapsulating the look, feel, and sound of Yves Tumor. I could feel the energy buzzing in the room as we all eagerly awaited for them to take the stage.

The thing one needs to understand about Yves Tumor is that their work is more than music. Their show is more than a concert. It is an experience. It engulfs you, swallowing you whole, seating you down until the end. The Houston stop was no different.

The lights go out and red lights take over the stage. Suddenly, the roar of God Is a Circle, the leading single off their newest album Praise A Lord Who Chews But Which Does Not Consume; (Or Simply; Hot Between Worlds), begins. From that point forward, the crowd was Yves’s for the night. The crowd burst into screams as Yves and their band took the stage and kicked off the track. To no one's surprise, the entire band wore outfits that captured their essence.

The concert did not slow once. The band flew through the setlist, keeping the energy high and wide the entire night. One minute you're belting out with Yves during Jackie and then immediately going into Gospel For A New Century. My ears rang in the best way possible.

I do not think the smile on my face left once and neither did the energy of Yves on stage. They began running up on the barricade, performing from the crowd. There were multiple times when their guitarist joined in on the antics. Each time, the crowd erupted into excitement, everyone rushing to meet with Yves.

Of course, the highlight of the night for myself and I am sure everyone in the room was the thrill of listening to Kerosene! Live. This was my first introduction to Yves and I have been hooked since then. Nothing could have prepared the crowd for the way the song sounded live. I did not think the studio song could be topped but hearing it live was as if I was listening to it for the first time.

No show has come close so far to reaching the electrifying new heights I felt this night. This show will go down as being one of the greatest of my career.
